How I met the Internet

I would say that the internet has always been a part of my life. I have fond memories of watching my mom use dial up internet service to get her work done. At that time I thought the internet was nothing more than some invisible world only accessible to adults and served no purpose other than to meet the needs of corporations. It would be till I was in elementary school that I was able to use the internet in new capacities.

As I recall, using the internet to research various topics was no doubt my very first introduction to this plethora of information. I would spend hours looking up various animals, key landmarks, and historical figures. All the while, I never realized the critical impact the internet would have on my life as it would continue to evolve.
Later on in life the internet would create forms of social media, creative web spaces, and information based web sites that would become particularly appealing to me. I found the internet to be a place to not only share who I am as a person, but also a place of great opportunity. Upon reflection I cant help but be amazed at how much I have learned through the internet. It truly has become a form of tool within my daily arsenal for life. I do my best to make use of the internet in anyway that I can, and almost find it strange how attached I have become to its presence. (It has also become quite clear that our relationship with the internet will continue to grow far into the future as new technologies and needs arise)

Yet, I cant help but feel that despite the internet being of the digital realm, and comprised of a vast array of networks; there is without a doubt something truly HUMAN about the nature of this online world. The networks that comprise the internet as we know it serve as reflections of humanity itself, and as a result the internet serves not only as a tool for our use, but also as an extension of our very being.
